Do you have bumps on your shoulders and upper arms?

I have a 16 year old brother who likes to text me his skin care questions.....
Here is our textversation.
If you have tiny red bumps on your shoulders and/ or upper arms, you probably have keratosis pilaris, which is basically an inflammation of your hair follicles. Some people are just prone to getting them. If you suffer from this "chicken skin" make sure to exfoliate the back of your arms regularly using both a body scrub and an acne wash. Also, be sure to moisturized your arms twice a day to keep the skin from dehydrating. If your skin gets dry on the back of your arms, your keratosis pilaris will get much worse. When you keep your skin hydrated, the vellus hair on your arms is able to grow out of the skin and not become ingrown, which is what these tiny bumps are, ingrown hairs.
Clayton:
Tamara, I got a question. For some reason I have been getting small bumps on my shoulders. Why is that?
Me:
What kind of bumps? & where on your shoulders? How many bumps?
(Me trying to figure out what he's talking about!)
Clayton:
A good amount upper shoulder above my bicep and triceps. Small tiny bumps that are hard to see but easy to feel.
Me:
Are they red at all, or you can only feel them?
Clay:
Little red barely can see them
Me:
Sounds like keratosis pilaris, or "chicken bumps". Use a body scrub on your shoulders every other day before you turn the shower on. And get a body wash that has salicylic or glycolic acid in it. You could use a facial acne wash just on your shoulders. Doing these two things should clear it up.
Clay:
What kind of body scrub?
Me:
A kind that comes in a tub, not a tube. Find a salt based body scrub, or make your own with: sea salt, baking soda, and some olive oil.
(I personally like Be Spoiled -Be Free Strawberry Ginger Sugar Scrub and Repechage's Sea Spa Glow- see links on the next post)
Clay:
Ok, thank you what about Ivory soap?
Me:
Not going to work
Clay:
ok.
